An eye on iRobots

Once they put a man on the moon we all knew it wouldn’t be long before someone invented a robot to do our vacuuming.

You can get the iRobot Scooba floor washing robot or the iRobot Dirt Dog shop sweeping vacuum. There’s a variety of iRobot Roombas for in-house use — the iRobot Verro power scrubbing pool cleaning robot and even iRobot Looj, the gutter cleaning robot. Looj is very cute, even if it does look a little like Edward Scissorhands.

iRobots Roombas look a lot like an overgrown smoke detector and feature advanced technology for transitioning from carpet to hard surface floors. They get under furniture without it being moved, clean edges and corners, detect dirt to determine room navigation, automatically avoids stairs and drop-offs and can clean up to four rooms on a single battery charge.

The more upscale Roombas have a wireless command center. Roombas sell for as low as $129.99 up to $500. A Web shop special right now offers a Roomba, Scooba and Dirt Dog for $999.98 or a Roomba, Scooba and Looj for the same price.

Gives a whole new meaning to his and hers, doesn’t it?
