Princeton Mayor Donna Magee dies

PRINCETON - Funeral arrangements for Princeton's mayor will be announced by an Ottawa funeral home.

Donna Magee, 75, the mayor of Princeton, died Wednesday. Arrangements are being handled by Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

Magee was re-elected as Princeton mayor in April, although she had been ill before the election and has not attended a meeting since then, council member Carol Lingo said today.

Council member Chris Hutchinson has been serving as mayor in Magee's absence.

Magee has lived in Princeton since 1972, a previous Herald news story said. She was a volunteer for many local concerns including Central Heights school, the Princeton Christian Church and Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She served as auxiliary president for three years, from 2005 to 2007.

She was elected to her first term as mayor in 2001.
