Shrine rodeo returning this weekend

By BRIAN WILLIAMS, Herald Staff Writer

The Fairgrounds will be busting with rodeo fun Saturday.

The Second Annual Franklin County Shrine Club Rodeo “Open Rodeo” will be 7 p.m. at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, 17th and Elm streets, Ottawa.

“It’s a full rodeo. It’s going to be pretty good sized,” Delbert Breithaupt, organizer, said.

Events will include barrel racing, bull riding, calf riding and mutton busting. Grandpa Pokey and Scotty Plowman, rodeo clown and barrel man, will provide entertainment.

For those who can’t wait until evening, free events will begin at 9 a.m.

All proceeds from the rodeo will go to the Franklin County Shrine Club.

“We’re trying to make money for the kids in Franklin County,” Breithaupt said. “The money for the Franklin County Club stays in Franklin County.”
