Drinking party means trouble for teens

Six teenagers and young adults could be facing underage drinking charges after Ottawa police broke up a party Saturday night.

Meanwhile, another teen was arrested on suspicion of underage drinking two nights in a row at two other parties.

Police responded to a report of a loud party in the 1000 block of South Cypress about 11:19 p.m. Saturday, Lt. Adam Weingartner, with the Ottawa Police Department, said.

Police issued tickets to six people younger than 21 on suspicion of alcohol consumption. Two 16-year-olds, a girl from Quenemo and a boy from Pomona,were released to their parents, Weingartner said.

The host of the party, Sheena Buskirk, 19, Ottawa, also was arrested, Weingartner said.

Also arrested were: Micaya Mills, 19, Gardner; Jeremy Slavens, 18, Pomona; and Arry Martin, 18, Warsaw, Mo.

In an unrelated case, police arrested a 19-year-old Missouri man twice for underage drinking after he was found drinking acohol at a loud party in the very early morning hours Saturday, then at another party very early Sunday morning. Other party atttendees were not underage, Weingartner said.

James Moran, 19, Adrian, Mo., was arrested in the 900 block of North Mulberry Street at 1:31 a.m. Saturday and in the 300 block of East Ninth Street at 2:10 a.m. Sunday. Both times, he was arrested on suspicion of underage consumption of alcohol.
