Teen arrested at football game kicks out patrol car’s window

By The Herald Staff

A Pomona teenager who was arrested at a high school football game kicked out a window of a patrol car on the way to jail.

Trevor D. Morrison, 16, Pomona, was arrested Friday night after a school official reported he was being loud and profane at the West Franklin football game at Pomona, Franklin County Undersheriff Steve Lunger said. Reserve deputies escorted Morrison from the football stadium, and he continued to use profanity and be disorderly with the officers, Lunger said.

A deputy who was at the game attempted to take Morrison to the juvenile detention center in Ottawa, but he did not have a secure “cage car” and pulled over at the Richter crossing, about five miles west of Ottawa at K-68, to wait for someone to bring a more secure patrol car, Lunger said.

When Morrison was transferred to that car, he kicked the window, Lunger said. The glass did not shatter; rather, the entire window was kicked out of its frame, he said.

Morrison was taken to the juvenile detention center without further incident.

Lunger said it is unusual for a suspect to kick out a window, but some people do attempt to damage patrol cars during an arrest.

Morrison was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, disorderly conduct, minor in consumption of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
