A bright idea

By LINDA BROWN

Some ideas are so obvious you have to wonder why it took someone 50 years to come up with them.

Such is the case with the ball cap from Keep’n It Reel that has two ultra bright, high-powered LED lights sewn into the edge of the brim, making it the ultimate in a hands free flashlight.

It looks just like any other premium quality ball cap except tucked inside the sweatband are two coin cell batteries and an on/off switch is cleverly mounted under the fabric on the underside of the hat’s bill. Once you click the hidden switch the two LED lights illuminate a 15-foot area in front of you that can be visible from more than a mile away.

The caps are ideal for night grilling, fishing, walking the dog, working on the car, walking or reading. Come to think about it they’d probably be real handy during power outages; way safer than candles. The batteries provide up to 25 hours of light and are easily replaced.

The caps are well constructed, have a Velcro closure strap and come in black, khaki and camouflage. They are priced in the neighborhood of $20 and sell online at www.keepnitreel.com.
