Wellsville FBLA starts the year

Wellsville’s new Future Business Leaders of America local officer team has set out to accomplish great things this year.

The officers, Brandon Ebeck, president, Katelyn Barthol, public relations, MacKenzie Pfeiffer, treasurer/editor and Tayler Graham, historian/secretary, started the school year by attending the FBLA Summer Leadership Seminar at Topeka to obtain new ideas for the  chapter.

From the seminar, attendees learned how to make this year in FBLA the best it can be. Whether it be through workshops, activities or community and school service, all activities were geared toward developing the skills, ideas and attitudes of every chapter member.

Officers helped bring in new members and the new school year in true FBLA fashion by decorating bulletin boards, creating “Welcome Back” notes for lockers and by presenting to the freshman classes.

Ebeck and Pfeiffer also spoke to the Wellsville USD 289 Board of Education, thanking them for their contributions and support of FBLA this past year. They also informed the board of upcoming goals and activities for the Wellsville FBLA chapter.

FBLA members began the new school year with a pool party/ice cream social for membership recruitment. The pool party was a big success and everybody had a great time. About 70 students attended and enjoyed the event.

To help fund a trip the FBLA officers will take to attend the National Fall Leadership Conference in Denver, Colo.

FBLA members hosted the middle school “Welcome Back” dance.  The dance had an upbeat and positive feeling that allowed the middle school students to have a great time. With the new officer team and its 100-plus members so far, FBLA looks to be “Simply the Best” in Kansas.

Reported by MacKenzie Pfeiffer.
