Music center stage at this weekend’s Cornstock

Country music artist Diamond Rio will headline the fifth annual Anderson County Corn Festival Saturday.

The band is slated to take the stage at the Cornstock Concert on the Hill at 8 p.m. North Lake Park, North Lake Road, Garnett.

Diamond Rio has received four Group of the Year awards from the Country Music Association, two Top Vocal Group awards from the Academy of Country Music and 13 Grammy Award nominations.

Opening for Diamond Rio will be Travis Marvin & Hammer Down from Ottawa at 5:30 p.m. and Stampede from Iola at 6:45 p.m. Both bands will have a meet-and-greet at their souvenir tables at the Cornstock Concert on the Hill after their performances.

The concert caps festivals events, which include a fishing derby, a karaoke contest and a homemade raft race.

All events are at North Lake Park, North Lake Road, Garnett.

Friday

• 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. — Lake Garnett Cruisers’ “Can-U-Cruise” Charity Cruise Night

• 6 p.m. — Corn Open Night Light Evening Golf Tournament, Garnett Country Club, North Lake Park, 600 N. Lake Road, Garnett.

Saturday

• 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. — United Methodist Church Breakfast, community building at the fairgrounds.

• 8 a.m. — Fish Trot For Kids fishing derby, golf course pond.

• 8 a.m. — Craft Pavilion opens.

• 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Tractor, implement, RV and outdoor recreation displays, north of Legion Field by Caldwell Implement Co. and Greeley Implement Cd.

• 8 a.m. — NASCAR Street Tour

• 9 a.m. —  Miss and Little Miss Cornstock Pageant, Embarq Stadium Stage

• 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Anderson County 4-H Council Petting Zoo, show barn.

• 10 a.m. —  GSSB Cornucopia Entertainment Tent, Legion Field.

• 10 a.m. — Little Niblets Playland.

• 11 a.m. — Anderson County Farm Bureau Pedal Power Tractor Pull, football field.

• 1 p.m. — “Corn Idol” Karaoke Contest, Embarq Stadium Stage.

• 1 p.m. — Cornstock Regatta Homemade Raft Races, boat dock.

• 5 p.m. — Concert gates open.

• 5:30 p.m. — Travis Marvin & Hammer Down.

• 6:45 p.m. — Stampede.

• 8 p.m. — Diamond Rio.
