OMS group visits Washington D.C.

Each year students from Ottawa Middle School have an opportunity to tour the nation’s capital.

The group spent several days in June at Washington D.C., Jamestown and Williamsburg.

Past tours have included Civil War battlefields and New York.

While in the nation’s capital, the group visited the Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, Vietnam, Korean War and WWII memorials. Other sites seen included: Ford’s Theater, the Capital, the White House, Smithsonian Museum, National Archives, Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery and Mount Vernon.

Next year’s trip will be June 2-6, 2009. Five days and four nights will be spent visiting the Civil War battlefields of Manassas, Antietam and one night at the Gettysburg battlefield on a ghost tour.

The trip is open to seventh and eighth grade students.
