An 83-year-old Ottawa man who was injured in a two-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon at the corner of Seventh and Main streets in Ottawa has been released from the hospital.

James Fredricks was treated at Overland Park Regional Medical Center for undisclosed injuries and released Monday, a hospital spokesperson said.

A Chevrolet Equinox driven by Fredricks, which was traveling north on Main Street, attempted to turn west on West Seventh Street when it was struck by a Mercury Mountaineer driven by Brenda Van Horn, 34, Ottawa, according to drivers’ statements given to Ottawa police at the scene. The Mountaineer was traveling southbound on Main Street when it hit the side of Fredricks’ Equinox, causing it to rollover at least once before coming to rest on the driver’s side.

The 2 p.m. wreck caused South Main Street traffic to be rerouted for most of the afternoon.
