In pool play, Wellsville downed West Franklin (25-15, 25-14), Anderson County (25-19, 25-14) and Baldwin (22-25, 25-14, 25-17).

Wellsville fell to Atchison County, 16-25, 25-22, 25-14.

“We started out in our first two matches very strong, but experienced a slight drop-off after that,” Wellsville coach Eric Evans said. “I thought our team played pretty consistently throughout the day, but we basically played 4 matches in a row, and couldn’t quite keep our level of play up in the championship match. Take nothing away from Osage City, though, they were undefeated on the day and really played well in the finals.”

Wellsville plays Tuesday at home against Jayhawk-Linn and Osawatomie.
