OU soccer sweeps Bethany
The Ottawa University soccer teams swept Bethany College Wednesday at Peoples Bank Field.
The Braves scored three goals in the first 40 minutes for a 3-0 victory. The Lady Braves netted four goals in the first 25 minutes and won 5-0.
Braves’ keeper Chris Munoz made five saves. Philip Nguyen scored two goals and had an assist. Brian McAllister had a goal. Marvin Graham and Mario Alcala had assists.
The Braves outshot Bethany, 33-15. Ottawa improved to 4-6-1 overall and 1-1 in conference.
Whitney Bowen paced the Ottawa women with a goal and two assists. Samantha Mayfield netted two goals. Hanna Kelsey and Laura Rodriguez scored a goal each. The assists came from Elizabeth Wilkins, Amanda Just and Christie Johnson.
Ottawa keeper Lauren Peil made three saves and Bethany was held to four shots on goal. Ottawa fired 31 shots on goal.
The Lady Braves improved to 8-2-1 and 2-0.
OU volleyball falls to Southwestern
WINFIELD — The Ottawa University volleyball team fell in three games Tuesday to Southwestern, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20.
Brenda Jackson had nine kills and 13 digs. Karley Miller had 11 set assists and Autumn Reece, 11. Laura Jeannin had 14 digs.
