OU volleyball tops McPherson

The Ottawa University volleyball team rolled by McPherson, 25-19, 29-27, 25-22, Thursday at Wilson Field House.

Serita Ingram led Ottawa with 11 kills and a .450 hitting percentage. She also had six solo blocks. Brenda Jackson had 10 kills.

Autumn Reece had 21 assists and Karley Miller, 11. Laura Jeannin had 18 digs.

Wellsville squad remains undefeated

WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville Middle School seventh-grade football team remained undefeated with a 38-8 victory Thursday over Prairie View in Wellsville.

Matthew Torneden scored four touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. Luke Meyer passed for two touchdowns and scored a 2-point conversion. Shelton Breithaupt had a touchdown and Carter Mann scored a 2-point conversion.

The Wellsville eighth grade fell 40-0. Wellsville closes the season Tuesday at home against Jayhawk-Linn.

West Franklin VB moves to 6-0

POMONA — The West Franklin Middle School varsity volleyball team remains undefeated (6-0) after defeating Herington (25-12, 18-25, 25-22) Thursday in Pomona.

Serving: Brianna Poe, 12/12.

Kills: Sierra Miller 4, Lacey Coleman 3, Brianna Poe 2, McKenzie Steele 2, Casi Johnson 2.

The junior varsity lost to Herington 25-22, 18-25, 25-22.

Serving: Sadie Wise, 17/20

Kills: Brittany Crump 2, Natasha Rodriguez 2, Whitney Earnest 1.

Falcons earn first victory

The West Franklin Middle School football team defeated the Herington Railers 32-6 Thursday for their first victory of the season.  

Josh Rogers and Turner Anderson both rushed for over a 100 yards and each scored two touchdowns. Logan Mackenzie added 42 yards and a touchdown.  

The Falcons (1-5) plays Thursday at Mission Valley.
