Local Veterans Day celebration featured in weekly magazine

By BRIAN WILLIAMS, Herald Staff Writer

Ottawa’s local Veterans Day celebration is getting some national exposure.

In this weekend’s edition of “American Profile” magazine, the Ottawa Veterans Day Celebration is the event listed for Kansas for the period of Oct. 22 through Nov. 11. It appears in the Happenings section. The magazine will be inserted in The Ottawa Herald Saturday.

American Profile is a weekly, four-color magazine that celebrates hometown American life.

The Veterans Day parade and events will be Nov. 10 and this year’s theme honors veterans of modern warfare, which includes Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, as well as those who served in Afganistan.

The USO show and the World War II and Civil War re-enactments are scheduled to return to Forest Park. Also back is the Healing Field, which will double in size from last year to 600 flags.

To sign up for any of the events or for more information, call (785) 418-4237 or send an e-mail to blueangelks47@yahoo.com.
