BURT A. GREEN

Burt A. Green, 70, Ottawa, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

He was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Wichita to Verdine Bordman “V.B.” and Bernice Alois (Huggins) Green.

He lived in Wichita for most of his childhood and also lived in Cherryvale, California, Illinois, Wichita and Chanute before moving to Ottawa in 1994.

He was owner and operator of B & G Tree Service in Ottawa from 1972 to 1976.  He also worked as a small engine mechanic and had worked at Hilicrafters in Wichita and Custom Electronics in Chanute.  He also worked in construction until retiring because of his failing health.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Ottawa, and a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cherryvale.

He married  Jean Anne Robertson Jan. 28, 1975, in Ottawa. She preceded him in death May 23, 1980. He married Cora Rose Sawyer Frailey in Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death Nov. 8, 1993. He married Judy Ellen (Hall) Hines in Ottawa. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include daughter, Alois Megenity, and her husband, Patrick, Chanute; son, Burt V. Green, and his wife, Robin, Ottawa; stepson, Richard Hines, Ottawa; sister, Jeannie Nelson, and her husband, Buddy, Cherryvale; brothers, Gary Green, and his wife, Lynn, Chicago, Max Green, Florida, and Darrell Green and his wife, Darlene, Chanute; and grandchildren, Carrie Megenity, Crystal Megenity, Cody Megenity, David Green, Aaron Green, Scott Green and Jeremiah Green.

He was preceded in death by his father, Verdine Bordman “V.B.” Green; mother, Bernice Alois (Huggins) Green; wives, Jean Anne (Robertson) Green and Cora Rose (Sawyer) Frailey Green; brother, Ronnie Green; and sister, Oreta Nelson.

Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and after 1 p.m. to the service hour Sunday at the funeral home. Family will meet with friends from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery, Ottawa.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or Burt Green Memorial Fund in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, KS 66067.
