Local residents looking for a small town to spend their golden years in need not look any farther than their backyards, according to CNNMoney magazine.
CNNMoney ranked Ottawa among the 25 best places to retire in the U.S., with Ottawa listed sixth among best small towns for retirees in America.
“When the railroads started coming into Ottawa in 1868, the area blossomed,” the article said. “The only legacies of those railroads today are the 200 miles of rail trails running around the outskirts of town. But walk down Ottawa’s Main Street and you’ll still get a feel for the era, with dozens of historical buildings peppering the landscape.”
Albuquerque, N.M., ranked No. 1 on CNNMoney’s list of top retirement locales.
