‘Native Neighbors’

10/15/2012

Simon Washee, Pryor, Okla., performs a Native American warrior dance while John David and Geoff Tyner, both from Miami, Okla., play a pow-wow drum during “Native Neighbors from Franklin County’s Past: A Native American Experience” — a program Saturday at Washburn Towers, 526 S. Main St., Ottawa. The costume, ornately decorated with vibrantly colored beads and feathers, has a double-bussel at the waist and head level consisting of feathers. Washee said the whole costume weighs between 20 and 30 pounds.
