MARGUERITE KOEHLER

Marion, Ill. — Marguerite L. Koehler, 91, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, Marion, Ill.

She was born May 5, 1918, in Lebo to John W. and Anna C. (Siebuhr) Smith.  

She served as deputy register of deeds and deputy clerk in district court before working as secretary to District Court Judge Floyd Coffman. She worked part time after her retirement for Gary Jordan.

In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, making quilts and other craft work. She attended Whiteash Free Will Baptist Church.

She married Carl C. Koehler June 8, 1939, at Yates Center. They shared 70 years of marriage. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include son, Larry Koehler, and his wife, Carol, Marion, Ill.; grandchildren, Kevin Koehler, and his wife, Melanie, Murray, Ky., Kelly Rutledge and her husband, Barry, Freeburg, Ill., Kimberly Church and her husband, Andy, Carterville, Ill., Kory Koehler, and his wife, Lisa, of Minneapolis; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Braxton Koehler, Christopher, Daniel and Bryce Rutledge, Kaylee Ragen and Brelynn Koehler; and several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Family will meet with friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
