Treasures can be found downtown

By LINDA BROWN

Nearly half a century ago Irwin’s Gift Shop at 204 S. Main St., Ottawa, was the place brides-to-be picked out their china and silver patterns.

Today, the shop operating under the name “Treasures,” offers the same service with a bridal registry and a delightful selection of glassware, china, everyday place settings and plated flatware.

Fifteen different place setting patterns range from delicate, traditional fine china to square-shaped Stoneglaze black, to trendy Cocoa Blossom.

Several selections, such as the Countryside Harvest and Italian Countryside offer sturdy serving pieces and even a canister set to complete the set.

Plated flatware is practical enough for everyday use and pretty enough for the most formal dining experience.

Eight different glassware selections from Mikasa range from everyday elegance and practicality to clever, square-shaped flutes, goblets and water glasses that require the drinker to drink from one of the four corners to avoid a nasty spill.

No need to go out of town or register online when every bride’s dream is right here in downtown Ottawa at Treasures.
