H. CLARK EILENSTINE

H. Clark Eilenstine, 94, Ottawa, formerly of Rantoul, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa.

He was born June 6, 1915, to Hubert and Ethel Mae (Patrick) Eilenstine in Lebanon, Mo.

He moved with his family to a farm in Gardner in 1918, and after marriage lived in rural Gardner and rural Spring Hill, moving to Rantoul in 1976 and Ottawa in November 2003.

He attended schools in Gardner and Wellsville, graduating in 1934.

While a young man, he worked for Santa Fe Railroad, later becoming a steelworker for J and J Metal Products of Paola, where he was employed 34 years, retiring as a superintendent in 1980.  He also was a lifelong farmer.

He was a member of Ruhamah Baptist Church, where he was song leader for 16 years, and trustee, six; former member of Power of the Past; 4-H leader eight years in Miami County; and Modern Woodmen member.

 He married Thelma Fruit in 1936. They divorced.  

He married Doris M.  (Miller) Pearson Thursday, March 4, 1976, in Rantoul. She survives of the home.

Survivors also include sons Donald Eilenstine and his wife, Doreen, of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; Duane Eilenstine and his wife, Irene, of Garnett; Raymond Eilenstine and his wife, Kathy, of Burlington, Iowa; Larry Eilenstine and his wife, Donna, of Edgerton; Gregg Eilenstine and his wife, Jeanette, of Spring Hill; daughters Margie Elliot and her husband, John, of Arlington, Texas; Barbara Gravitt and her husband, Jerry, of Wagoner, Okla.; and Patricia Archer and her husband, David, of Belton, Mo.; stepdaughters, Judith R. Hauch of Watervliet, Mich.; Joyce Milroy and her husband, Ron, of Silver Lake; stepsons, Dale Pearson and his wife, Patty, of Ottawa; and Calvin Pearson of Rantoul; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Miller; an infant daughter, Betty Lou; sisters Virginia Collins and Lucille Eaton; a brother, Edward Eilenstine; and a grandson.

Friends may pay their respects after 9 a.m. Wedneday until the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be in Ruhamah Cemetery in Rantoul.
