Lady Braves volleyball back in fifth place

By The Herald Staff

The Ottawa University volleyball team moved back into fifth place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 3-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan Wednesday in Wilson Field House.

Ottawa defeated Kansas Wesleyan, 29-27, 25-15, 25-21.

That win coupled with McPherson’s loss to the University of Saint Mary gives Ottawa a one-match edge over McPherson and Saint Mary with a 7-8 KCAC mark.

Saint Mary won 15-25, 25-22, 25-21, 29-27 in McPherson.

The Lady Braves are 12-18 overall, winning more matches this season under first-year coach Tom Symons than the two previous seasons combined.

It was the final regular-season home match for seniors Toni Reynolds, Erin Scott and Whitney Falkenstien.

Ottawa closes the regular season on the road. The first match is 1 p.m. Saturday in Wichita against Friends. Ottawa ends the regular season Nov. 5 at Bethany.
