OU volleyball wraps up KCAC championship

The Ottawa University volleyball team claimed the program’s fourth conference and third Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference championship Monday with a 3-0 victory over Bethel in Wilson Field House.

Ottawa won 25-21, 25-20, 25-17 to improve to 16-0 in KCAC play. Ottawa (25-5) has won 13 straight matches and continues to receive votes in the NAIA volleyball poll.

Ottawa won previous conference titles in 1976 (Heart of America), 2001 and 2004.

The Lady Braves used a balanced offense attack and a swarming defense to stifle Tabor.

Nicole Gingery led Ottawa with 12 kills in 19 attempts for a .526 hitting percentage. Becca Colson and Taylor Bridge both had 10 kills each. Kristen Hendrickson finished with eight kills.

Chrissie Jeannin compiled 35 assists. Megan Gillespie and Katie Jensen had 11 digs each.

Ottawa closes the regular season on the road Friday and Saturday. Ottawa plays Friday at Bethany and Saturday at Kansas Wesleyan.
