CLUB NEWS: Four Seasons Garden Club

The Four Seasons Garden Club met Oct. 21 at Nigel’s Bistro, Ottawa. Hostesses for the luncheon were Jane Creighton and Jane Beuttel.

The European ambiance, accompanied with colorful silk leaves and candles along the elegant table runners and name tags at our place settings greeted our entry.

Once seated and settled into our first entree, the air was filled with beautiful melodies provided by classical guitarist John Jervis. The four-course luncheon ended with an elegant cheesecake topped with mixed berries and fruit, which highlighted the lunch.

President Pat Smith called the meeting to order. Ann Hoglund presented a reading of Humor entitled “The New Alphabet.” Minutes of the September meeting were read and approved.

Roll call was taken and 15 members were present. Faye Hunt noted one of our charter members, Frances Warnock, died Oct. 4. It was noted that Treasurer Norma Sellers had sent a check for $25 for Parkinson’s disease research.

October Yard of the Month was completed by Pat Smith and Faye Hunt. Selected yards were: North Ottawa — Kim and Gary Fritts, 728 N. Mulberry St.; South Ottawa — Shari and David Bailey, 1321 S. Ash St.

Gift certificates were presented to both recipients from Sand Creek Nursery and Wal-Mart.

Pat Smith selected the nominating committee of Jacquie Smith, Dolores Larsen and Daveen Holzapfel.

The Nov. 18 meeting will be hosted by Edna Boots and Daveen Holzapfel. The Dec. 9 meeting is scheduled earlier in hopes the weather will accommodate.
