CLUB NEWS: Princeton Goal Busters

Karenna Wilcut called to order the monthly meeting of the Princeton Goal Busters 4-H Club Oct. 12 at the Princeton United Methodist Church.

Cody Asbury led the club in the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Acaia Malone led a round of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” for the song. Roll call of “Something I want to do in 4-H this year” was answered by youth and parents in attendance. The minutes of the last month’s minutes were read and approved.

Lisa presented a bill for Darla Ouellette’s farewell basket. A motion was made and seconded to pay for the bill.

Chrystal Conner presented the financial report. Tristan Davis reported the meeting minutes were sent and published. There were no other officer reports.

Service committee asked the youth to help at the Richmond Nursing Home’s Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24. Suggested activities were story reading, games and project displays.

The slate of officers was discussed. The officers chosen for the 2009-2010 club year include: Wade Davis, president; Karenna Willcut, vice president; Dustin Asbury, secretary;  Cody Asbury, corresponding secretary; Chrystal Conner, treasurer;  Megan Davis, reporter;  Acaia and Ciara Malone, historians;  Tristan Davis, parliamentarian; and Wade Davis, Karenna Willcut, Dustin and Cheyenne Asbury, council representatives. Junior officers include: Alexis Dryden, president;  Morgan Jilek, vice president; Cheyenne Asbury, secretary; Willie Malone, treasurer;  Taylor Jilek and Kamryn Stinbaugh, flag salute and song leaders.

New officers then took over the meeting.

Leader Lisa Davis reminded members to turn in enrollment forms and participation sheets. She sent around a sheet with this year’s goals to be reviewed before voting. A sheet also was handed out to write e-mails or phone numbers on so reminders could be sent that way in order to save postage.

Davis announced that Cheryl Conner has agreed to be a co-leader for the club since Darla Ouellette resigned. Ambassador forms were handed out to youth 14 years and older who wanted to join. Countywide shooting sports meeting times and places also were discussed.

Unfinished business included the discussion of assisting KYLF participants with their entry fee. The club voted to pay each club participant $50 toward the event.

In new business, it was moved and seconded to start the November meeting at 6:30 p.m. with everyone bringing finger foods to share. Plans are to enjoy a snack and listen to talks from members on projects they did last year or plan to do this year before the business part of the meeting begins. Members are to bring guests if possible.

The goals as handed out for the coming year were approved. It was mentioned that Ottawa Recreation Commission is having a display in December that the club may want to participate in. This will be discussed at the next meeting.

A money donation for the new Rantoul 4-H club was discussed. It was approved to pay $100 to help get the club started.

The program was given by Megan Davis on apple raisin bread. Next month everyone will be asked to do a talk. The meeting was adjourned.

Submitted by Megan Davis, reporter.
