CoSida honors OU's Surage

Ottawa University women’s soccer player Autumn Surage was named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic District 6 first team.

CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports. First-team all-district honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports. First-team all-district honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

Surage, a sophomore forward from Colorado Springs, Colo., has played and started in all 18 games this season for the Lady Braves. She has 10 goals and one assist for a team high 21 points. Surage has 38 shots, 22 of them being on goal, and five game-winning goals.

Ottawa finished second in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference behind nationally-ranked Kansas Wesleyan. Ottawa received a first-round bye in the KCAC tournament and plays 7 p.m. Tuesday against either McPherson or Southwestern.

The men’s and women’s championship matches will be Nov. 10 in Winfield.
