Cold shooting hurts OU women

WICHITA — A cold shooting second half led to Ottawa University women’s basketball team’s 61-47 loss Saturday to Central Methodist at the Friends Classic.

Ottawa trailed by two points, 27-25, at the end of the first half, but mustered just 22 points in the second half. Ottawa shot 16 of 41 from the field, but did make seven of 16 trey attempts.

The Lady Braves were led for the second straight game by Paige Gibson with 14 points. Misty Stone had eight points and six rebounds.

KiKi Smith had seven points, four assists and two steals.

The Lady Braves (1-2) play 5:30 p.m. today in Olathe against NAIA Division I MidAmerica Nazarene.

Central Methodist (61) — Hutchings 13, Bennett 2, Dunger 13, Westbrook 7, Palan 2, Kyle 4, Elliott 16, Foster 2, Fox 2.

Ottawa (47) — Gibson 14, Stone 8, Morris 5, Hartzler 5, Hasenkamp 3, Smith 7, Sprew 5.
