Hinderliter wins wrestling awards

By The Herald Staff

Central Heights High School wrestling coach Randy Hinderliter has been recognized for his years of service to youth wrestling.

Hinderliter has been active in USA Wrestling and the USA Wrestling-Kansas, serving both organizations in a variety of positions for the past two decades.

Hinderliter recently was recognized for his continued work with the National Coaches Education Program.

In July, in Fargo, N.D., Hinderliter was presented with the inaugural Instructor of the Year by USA Wrestling.

Then in October, Hinderliter was given the Contributor of the Year by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.

Hinderliter has contributed to Kansas Wrestling in many ways.

He has worked as a high school rule-10 coach for more than 20 years and for the past eight years at Central Heights.

He is also involved in USA-Kansas Wrestling and is currently the Coaches Education and Certification Director for the USA Wrestling.

He attended his first USA Wrestling Silver Coaches College in 1999 and became a qualified instructor for USA Wrestling’s National Coaches Education Program.

Since then, he has been the primary facilitator in more than 70 Bronze level clinics, assisted others in 12 different states and has been part of 3,500 coaches being educated.

Hinderliter is instrumental in making Kansas the leader in the number of certified coaches. In 2005, he was part of the team that rewrote the text for the Bronze Clinics.

In January 2007, he was named the first Volunteer of the Month for USA Wrestling.

He is one of 45 Gold Certified Coaches in the nation.

In 2004, he received USA Wrestling-Kansas Person of the Year.
