Clinics welcome in schools

A young parent wrote to the Readers Forum [in Friday’s Herald] objecting to students receiving flu shots at school. As one of a much older generation, I would like to enlighten her on the history of our country and its schools.

My children are now in their 50s and 60s, and they stood in line in the elementary school halls to receive polio vaccinations during school hours. I am most grateful for that and we don’t have polio fears anymore. Some of my friends of my age still suffer from the effects of the serious polio they had as very young children.
