OU women take it on the chin

ATCHISON — The Ottawa University women’s basketball team lost both games this past weekend in the Benedictine Classic in Atchison.

Ottawa fell 72-60 Friday to Atchison. On Saturday, Baker downed Ottawa, 76-67.

ATCHISON — The Ottawa University women’s basketball team lost both games this past weekend in the Benedictine Classic in Atchison.

Ottawa fell 72-60 Friday to Atchison. On Saturday, Baker downed Ottawa, 76-67.

The Lady Braves shot 50 percent from the field against Benedictine and 41 percent from behind the arc against Baker.

Benedictine led 38-27 at halftime.

Morgan Boore led Ottawa with 19 points against Benedictine. Shauna McClure tossed in 15 points and had six assists. Amber Ramsey had 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and four blocks.

Ottawa shot 39 percent against Baker, which led 41-34 at halftime. Baker had 20-11 advantage over Ottawa in points off turnovers.

The Lady Braves were led by McClure with 21 points on 7-for-17 shooting from the floor. Lauren Buckles netted 12. Amber Ramsey had nine points, seven rebounds and four assists. Kelsi Meier led Ottawa with five assists.

The Lady Braves (1-4) play Friday and Saturday in the University of Saint Mary Classic in Leavenworth.

Ottawa plays 6 p.m. Friday against Central Methodist University and 1 p.m. Saturday versus. Johnson & Wales.
