ALVIN LOGAN

Alvin Logan, age 73, of Quenemo, Kan., died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kan. He was born Friday, June 26, 1936, in Dayton, Tenn. He was the son of Eural and Vesta (Horwell) Logan.

He was a resident of Quenemo since 1991, moving from Miami, Fla.

From 1981 to 1991, Alvin and his wife owned and operated L & M Backhoe Company, where they did electrical contracting with Florida Power & Light.  In 1995, he and his wife opened Over-the-Hill Collectibles located on Main Street in Ottawa.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from January of 1954 to January of 1957.

He was a lifelong National Rifle Association member, an avid hunter and fisherman and member of Operating Engineers Local 487.

On Dec. 3, 1957, Alvin was united in marriage with Janet Bevilhymer in Angola, Ind.  She preceded him in death April 17, 2003.

Survivors include son, Roger Logan, and his wife, Kitty, of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughter, Linda Logan, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sister, Joyce Ann Hadle, of Baldwin City, Kan.; granddaughter, Cacia Lynn Logan, of Indianapolis, Ind.; nephews, Stevie and Gary; and niece, Rachelle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Logan; father, Eural Logan; and mother, Vesta (Horwell) Logan.

Memorial services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa.

Cremation is planned.
