Baker tops Ottawa women

BALDWIN CITY — The Ottawa University women’s basketball team fell 73-60 to Baker University Saturday in the second game of the Baker Classic at George F. Collins Center.

The Lady Braves were within seven points, 31-24 at the half. The Wildcats outscored OU 42-36 in the second half.

Ottawa shot 35.7 percent from the floor and were 11-of-25 from behind the three-point line. Baker shot 47.5 percent and outrebounded Ottawa, 43-25.

For the second straight game, Ottawa had two players in double figures. Sophomore Emma Hartzler paced the Lady Braves with 17 points and three steals. Maggie Hasenkamp had 11 points.

Freshman Lauren Buckles tossed in nine points.

Misty Stone led Ottawa with six rebounds and Paige Gibson had five assists.

Aubree Gustin scored 15 points for Baker (3-2). Emily Gibson had 14 points and Brittany Hines, 12.

The Lady Braves (1-5) plays 7 p.m. Tuesday at home against No. 14 Columbia College.
