Nov. 18, 1959

• A new scouting district — the Marais des Cygne — was created at the annual meeting of the Kaw Council in Lawrence.

The new district, which encompasses Franklin, Miami, Linn and Anderson counties, was created from the old Tauy district, according to Bob Morgan, Kansas City, Kan., the new district’s professional scouter.

Area wise, Morgan said, the new district is the largest represented in the council.
