Ottawa City Manager Richard Nienstedt asked city commissioners to wait until next summer before considering any changes to his compensation package, in light of challenging economic times, city commissioners said during their regular meeting Wednesday. Commissioners also voted to extend Nienstedt’s contract until 2011.

City manager turns down pay raise, hopes others will follow his example

City Manager Richard Nienstedt is setting an example.

Nienstedt asked city commissioners to hold off until July on any compensation changes like a pay increase, officials discussed during Wednesday’s regular city commission meeting.
