JOSEPH ANTHONY MANNA

Joseph Anthony Manna, 67, Pomona, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at his residence. Joe, as he was known to many, was born on Tuesday, March 17, 1942, in Boston, Mass. He was the son of Joseph F. and Donalene (Dowell) Manna.

Joe grew up in Boston, moving to Dodge City in 1965, where he met his wife, Aldia. In 1970, Joe moved to Pomona, where he raised his family.

Joe graduated from English High School in Boston with the class of 1958. He attended a community college in Dodge City and later obtained an associate’s degree in civil engineering.

Joe worked numerous jobs within the Franklin County area until gaining employment with Johnson County Public Works, as Road and Bridge Inspector, where he retired after more than 20 years of service.

He was a member of Pomona Jaycees.

On Dec. 10, 1971, Joe was united in marriage with Aldia Kay Pearson in Ottawa. She survives of their home.

Survivors include his wife, Aldia Kay (Pearson) Manna, a daughter, Toni Blodgett, Ottawa; a son, Darrin D. Manna and his wife, Rachel, Overland Park; a dear friend, Patty Frazier, Boston, Mass.

He is preceeded in death by his father, Joseph F. Manna, his mother, Donalene Manna, and his son-in-law, Amos Blodgett.

Memorial Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends following services. A cremation is planned.
