JAMES C. ‘JIM’ WEIDNER

James C. “Jim” Weidner, 79, Ottawa, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home, Olathe. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg.

He was born April 19, 1930, in Ottawa to son of Samuel Bearsley Weidner Sr. and Sara Ann (Cook) Weidner.

He was a lifelong Ottawa resident.

He attended Ottawa schools.

He was a lifelong auto mechanic. He worked for Royer Automotive, Crites Automotive and Robertson’s Ford, all of Ottawa. From 1962 to retirement in 1992, he owned and operated J & W Garage at 1515 S. Main St. in Ottawa.

In the early 1950s, he served in the National Guard.

He married Joyce Ackerman April 26, 1959, in Ottawa. They celebrated 50 years of marriage. She survives of their home.

Other survivors include sons, Theren Weidner, Ottawa, Scott Weidner and his wife, Billie Jo, Ottawa, and Keith Weidner, Ottawa; daughter, Ronda McCord and her husband, Richard, Ottawa; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Bearsley Weidner Sr.; mother, Sara Ann Weidner; brothers, John “Fritz” Weidner, Samuel Weidner Jr. and Bill Weidner; and sisters, Jack Beach and Helen Smith.

Cremation is planned.

Memorial contributions can be made to the James Weidner Memorial Fund and sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
