Ottawa commissioners are expected to vote Wednesday to approve a licensing ordinance that basically will expand licensing to general contractors. The city already requires licenses for plumbers, electricians and HVAC contractors.

Changes likely for contractor licensing rules

Jeff Pope has mixed feelings about requiring licenses for general contractors.

He understands it’s important to protect consumers from shady construction companies and shoddy work.
