Central Heights and Osage City played an old-fashioned barnburner Monday in the opening game of the Trojan Tipoff Tournament at Central Heights.

The game was close from start to finish and ended with Osage City clinging to a 54-52 victory.

Central Heights coach Rusty Cannady said it was a battle with no team having more than a four-point lead.

“We played well,” he said. “Osage City is a relentless defensive team. They shot the ball real well from the outside.”

Osage City is known for pounding the ball inside, so Central Heights took that away. The Indians responded by hitting eight treys.

“This is a good little rivalry,” Cannady said.
