Central Heights down but not out in tourney

By The Herald Staff | 12/6/2012

RICHMOND — The Central Heights girls basketball team fell Thursday to Coffeyville in tournament play at home.

“Both teams played very hard tonight,” Vikings coach Scott Lane said Thursday. “We looked much better than we did Monday and I can definitely see this team coming together and learning to play with one another.”

Coffeyville outscored Central Heights 40-35.

“Our zone defense was a lot better tonight and our press break looked better than it did Monday,” Lane said. “I told the girls that this may not show up as a win in the scorebook, but it definitely felt like a win to me.

“We look forward to trying to go out and get our first win at 3 p.m. Friday in Osawatomie.”
