Week starts with spate of wrecks across county

By The Herald Staff

Deer and weather have kept local law enforcement busy with several wrecks and incidents early this week.

A teenager lost control of a vehicle and left the roadway while driving in the 1100 block of Kentucky Road about 4:30 p.m. Monday, according to a report from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. The teen, Morgan Myers, 17, Princeton, and a 7-year-old passenger were treated at the scene for possible injuries and released.

It was not immediately known if weather contributed to the accident, but a thin layer of snow covered many rural roads Monday.

Two drivers struck deer in separate incidents Monday, according to reports from the sheriff’s department.

One of those accidents was at about 6:10 p.m. on K-68 near Georgia Road, while the other was just seven minutes later in the 3800 block of K-33.

Sheriff’s deputies responding to an accident report early Monday found a different kind of incident. Deputies were called to the 2700 block of Alabama Terrace where they found a truck off the roadway. It had been stripped and burned.
