Ottawa firefighters douse kitchen fire

By The Herald Staff | 12/11/2012

A fire that started in the kitchen of a modular home about 10 a.m. Tuesday in north Ottawa was quickly contained by Ottawa firefighters.

No one was injured in the fire in the Cherrywoods Manufactured Home Community, 711 E. Garfield St., Ottawa.

“The fire started in the kitchen area of the home, and it was pretty well contained to that area,” Jeff Carner, Ottawa fire chief, said at the scene. “The occupants were home. I haven’t had a chance to interview them, but I believe they are the ones that called it in.”

A damage estimate had not been determined.
