Report: Law enforcement searching for car, suspect after K-68 carjacking

By The Herald Staff

Deputies still are gathering information about a reported carjacking on K-68 today, Undersheriff Steve Lunger, with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, said.

Details were scarce, but a report heard over a police scanner today indicated a white woman in her mid-30s carjacked at gunpoint a vehicle on K-68, east of Pomona, and forced the 42-year-old driver to drive to Wyandotte County.

“All I can tell you is that no one was injured,” Lunger said.

The woman was described as 150 pounds with reddish blond hair, and between 5 foot and 5 foot, 4 inches tall.

Law enforcement officers reportedly are still searching for the suspect and vehicle, which was described as a gold-colored Ford Escort with a Kansas firefighter license tag.
