ALLEN ROY EPP

Allen Roy Epp, Emporia, died Dec. 9, 2009, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was 82.

The Rev. Epp was a minister for 48 years, serving churches in Shawnee, Abilene, Gardner, Emporia, Limon, Colo., Americus, Sardis and Canton. His longest pastorate was at First Baptist Church in Emporia for 16 years, where he was currently a member.

Allen was born June 20, 1927, in Henderson, Neb., to Gerhard and Anna Epp and was ninth of 10 children. He graduated from Henderson schools, York College and Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kan.

He married Lavina Ruth Quiring Aug. 9, 1951, in Henderson, Neb. She survives.

He also is survived by four children, Linda Forbes and Douglas Epp, Emporia, and Debbie Cation and Becky Blaue, Ottawa; a sister, Laura Snow, Lebanon, Mo.; a brother, Telfer Epp, Aliso Viejo, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.

The celebration of Allen’s life and faith will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Emporia. Cremation has occurred.
