New U.S. 59 opening delayed

Weather delays have pushed back the opening until next year for part of a new four-lane highway between Ottawa and Lawrence.

The highway is scheduled to be opened on or before Feb. 1, 2010, weather permitting, Priscilla Petersen, a spokesperson for the Kansas Department of Transportation, said Thursday.
