A mid-morning rollover wreck Monday left some residents in the dark.

Power was cut shortly after 9 a.m. Monday in the northern part of Franklin County after a large feed truck went off the road and collided with a power pole.

When the Ottawa Coop vehicle initially left the roadway, the driver, Cory A. Nungesser, 23, Garnett, over-corrected and ended up in the opposite ditch, Franklin County Sheriff’s office officials said.

“The driver was headed northbound, went off the road over here to the right, then over-corrected going off the road to the left and striking a power pole, making the lines come down on top of the truck,” Sgt. Brian Ferguson, with the sheriff’s office, said at the scene of the wreck about a mile east of Appanoose Elementary School, 600 Shawnee Road, Pomona.

The truck landed on the driver’s side on the west side of Shawnee Road. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. He was not transported to a hospital.

Crews from Kansas City Power and Light responded to the scene, and cut power to the affected section of electric lines so power could be safely restored to the area, Ferguson said.

“They have responded,” Ferguson said. “They are on scene making it safe for us.”
