What will the new year bring?

By PASTOR DAVE BURNS, Foundation Church

Matthew 6:34

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

We are starting a new year, and that’s always an exciting time. Every new year brings new hopes, new worries, new promises, new resolutions. What will this new year bring? New challenges and new problems? Probably. New hopes and new surprises? Probably.

Each New Year brings newness to our lives. And this newness brings excitement and uncertainty.

It’s OK to be excited about the new year. It’s great to have dreams and goals, and to do our best to attain those. These things are all inherently good.

But we can’t forget about today. Each new day we are given is a gift from God, and He asks that we use that gift to the best of our abilities for Him. After all, we’ve only been given today.

So as this new year rolls around, remember to plan for the future, but live for today.
