Teacher headed to workshop on slavery

RICHMOND — An English teacher at Central Heights High School has been recognized by a national organization and invited to participate in a workshop in Maryland.

The workshop focuses on the slave narratives in American literature, which are first-hand accounts by American slaves in the early stages of American history, Cortney Kinyon, who was selected as a Summer Scholar for the National Endowment for the Humanities, said.
