Flags to be lowered Friday in Kansas

TOPEKA — The Sunflower State is expected to pay tribute Friday to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down Friday in honor of the Kansas Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day. The 31st Annual Kansas Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony is planned for noon Friday on the south steps of the capitol grounds in Topeka.
