Fugitive sought by US Marshals caught in Garnett

By The Herald Staff

A Franklin County area man who was able to elude the U.S. Marshal’s Office and local authorities on a high-speed chase Wednesday morning in Franklin and Anderson counties was arrested Thursday night in Garnett, according to an Anderson County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Dylan Ivey was arrested about 7:45 p.m. at a residence in Garnett and is being held at the Anderson County Jail in Garnett on a “no-bond” warrant, Vern Valentine, Anderson County sheriff, said in the release. The release did not disclose what charges Ivey might be facing, and Valentine was unavailable for comment Friday morning.

Officers with the U.S. Marshal’s Office, the Kansas Highway Patrol, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Garnett Police Department participated in the arrest, the release said.

Garnett resident Shannon Hicks also was arrested and is being held without bond in the Anderson County Jail, pending charges for obstructing law enforcement in a felony case, the release said.
