OVERBROOK — Authorities are investigating a shooting early Thursday morning in Osage County.

At 12:35 a.m. Thursday, Osage County 911 received a call from an Overbrook resident who said an intruder forced entry into her residence, an Overbrook Police Department news release said. The intruder, who was shot in an altercation with the resident, fled the residence.

At 12:40 a.m. Bruce Jolly, 48, Overbrook, reported to Osage County 911 that he had been shot and was at a neighbor’s house.

Upon the arrival of Osage County EMS, Jolly was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. An update on his condition was not known Thursday afternoon, according to the release.

Search warrants were conducted to collect evidence at both Jolly’s residence and the residence that was broken into, the release said. The person who shot Jolly was not injured and was not arrested. The shooter’s name will not be released at this time, the release said.

Osage County Attorney plans for file formal charges for Jolly. The Overbrook Police Department and Osage County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating.
