An Overland Park Ford dealership can’t wait to become part of Ottawa, the owner said.

Bob Allen Ford, 9239 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, will be the new owner next week of Advantage Ford, 2320 S. Oak St., Ottawa, Brad Hewlett, owner, said.

“It is going to be a great opportunity for us,” Hewlett said. “We love the small town of Ottawa.”

Hewlett said Ottawa will be the third dealership owned by the group. The other is Metro Ford in Independence, Missouri, he said.

“We want to run the Ford store in Ottawa as a new and pre-owned dealership,” Hewlett said. “Our primary focus will be the town of Ottawa.”

The dealership will be renamed Bob Allen Ford, Ottawa.

“We have over 30 years of branding Bob Allen,” he said. “We can advertise the locations together. When you can combine the advertising structure and some of the other things between two stores, it helps out the cost. We will have more negotiating power.”

Hewlett said the opportunity to come to Ottawa came by chance.

“We have been actively looking to expand our operations,” he said. “Ottawa was not on our radar. We looked in Oklahoma and a few other [places]. One day we stopped at Advantage Ford and wanted to look at the Quick Lane because we were looking at possibly doing that. It was a brand new dealership and we wanted to see it. Once the realization that we could own it, we jumped at the opportunity.”

He cited several advantages of owning a business in Ottawa.

“We liked the location of it,” Hewlett said. “It is approximately 40 minutes from our dealership in Overland Park. We like the proximity of it. We like the size of it. We like the fact that the building was fairly new. We like the town of Ottawa.”

Customer service will be a primary focus, Hewlett said.

“First and foremost is our customers,” he said. “We want to take care of our customers. We built our business by hiring good quality people that have the customers needs and concerns met first. We want our service to be outstanding. We are a three-time presidential award winner at Bob Allen Ford [for service]. Our customer satisfaction for the month of August was 97 percent [in Overland Park].”

Hewlett said the Ottawa dealership will have competitive prices and can’t wait to meet Ottawa customers.

“We are excited about getting things kicked off,” he said. “We want to get our shoes and hands dirty.”
